Highlights from the West Africa Economic Summit 2025

It was a great honor to report for duty as the African Union’s 6th Region Ambassador at the 2025 West Africa Economic Summit (WAES). To promote economic integration and open up new opportunities for West Africa, leaders, decision-makers, and innovators from all over the region convened at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre for the summit.

Ayo Animashaun - African Union 6th Region Ambassador

The Honorable Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, officially opened the Deal Room, which I had the honor of leading with my brother and partner, Ambassador Afolabi Oke. Reflecting the summit’s dedication to tangible results, this dynamic venue developed into a center for strategic alliances, investment talks, and in-the-moment business contacts.

WAES 2025 emphasized the importance of private sector leadership, youth involvement, and teamwork in determining Africa’s future. The enthusiasm, hope, and solidarity on exhibit inspire me, and I’m appreciative of the faith our team has been given.

Let’s continue to forge connections, seal agreements, and promote West Africa’s sustainable development.
